My vinyl order came in! Ya hoo! I ordered from an amazing seller on ebay. cindy7890 I ordered it on Monday and had it in my mailbox on Wednesday. How is that for amazing service?!

I put this adorable little frog with his bugs up just inside my camper door. Now I can see him when I'm sitting at the table eating.

I used camping critters for the cuts once again. I must confess that I paid way more for this cart than I normally do. I had to have it when it first came out so I paid $45.00 for it. Gasp. I never spend more than $20.00 for a full cart now a days. I must say that it was totally worth the investment. This is definitely my favorite cart.

I finally found some time to make a scrapbook page. It seems like forever since I made the last one. I forgot how much I enjoy doing this.

The imagine makes this process so much easier and so much fun. I love being able to fill my cuts with printed paper without having to cut out a ton of little squares and line them up on my mat.

I have found a really fun blog. They call themselves Counterfeit Kit Challenge. Each month they choose a page kit from a company and recreate it from their stash. I love this idea. You get to shop from your own stash. No money required. I love the challenge of this.

This month they are using Burlaps and Butterflies's June kit. You can find it here. This kit is very flowery and girly. It's not me at all. I used it as inspiration only. I have the same elements in mine but with a camping theme. I'm dying to get started on the photos from my April vacation.

Here is my version of the kit:

Since I didn't have any thickers to add, I add two cricut cart instead. I will be using Mickey font and Lyrical Letters. I have also added Camping Critters, two types of ribbon, green raffia, brads and some fabric covered pins.

Here is a close up of the papers that I chose. I chose 10 patterned papers from my stash. I have two of each for a total of 20. 5 pieces of cardstock was not nearly enough for me. (I am a paper addict.) I picked out 5 colors from su and I added three pieces of each color.

I didn't have an coordinating phrase stickers so I used this fun sheet of phrases. I can simply cut them out and adhere them myself.

Vellum butterflies and flowers weren't going to work for my theme. I substituted chipboard stickers and some 3-dimensional stickers.

Here is my add on pack. They suggested making a summer add on pack. Since I have a bunch of beach photos to scrap from our April vacation, I thought these would work nicely. I used random paper from my stash, brad buddies, mudd puddles and mini sea shells.

Anthony's Valentines

These are the Valentine's we made for Anthony's class. The "bags" came from Tags, bags and more. I cut out solid white hearts for the front. He decorated the hearts and attached them to the fronts. He also filled each one with candy for his friends.

Blue and Gold Banquet

I made the center pieces for our blue and gold banquet for cub scouts this year. I cut out an 8" paper doll in black out and used it as a template for the dolls. They were cut out of wood and painted. I then cut out the close from both of the paper doll carts to make the uniforms.

I cut out tents from Camping Critters to mart the tables with. Each table has a cub scout and a tent. The scout is dressed in the same uniform as the boys at that table.

I am still working on the scrapbook for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. With him around all the time, it's getting harder and harder to work on it and keep it a secret. This is only page 2 and I want to do at least 10.

I used a sketch from Creativescrappers. I also used my new Jolly Holiday Cartridge for all of the die cuts. Since I cut them on my imagine, I was able to color fill the images before I cut them out. I used the Mr. Frosty cartridge for the colors and patterns. Finally, I used Smiley Cards for the title.

I was unable to go shopping on Black Friday this year due to having surgery right before Thanksgiving. I was so disappointed that I couldn't go to Walmart and get the Jolly Holidays cartridge. Of course, this was the only one to sell out at my store. Do you remember that darling boyfriend I keep mentioning? Well he bought me the cart for Christmas. Boy, I love that man.

Here is another card for my stash. I used Jolly Holidays, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, snowflake cuddle bug folder and a ribbon from Michaels.

Happy Birthday To You

I have come to realize that my card stash is suffering big time. Today I made a birthday card to help stock it back up. I'm not in love with the image imagine cartridges. The images don't have enough layers for me but they are super cute. I got the ice cream sundae from the Yummy cart. I also used my Happy Birthday cuttlebug folder.

My First Imagine Creation

For my first project, I made a thank you card for my wonderful boyfriend. I love that I can use the imagine with all of my original cricut cartridges. I only used white card stock for this project minus the card base. I was able to color fill each layer of my cuts before I cut them out. I was also able to use the rbg codes to match the stampin' up colors that I love. Now I can still use the discontinued colors!! Life is good.

My cricut expression has officially died. This is why I have suddenly stopped posting again. I finally wore it out and of course, it is no longer under warranty. I told the kids that we were going to have a funeral for it and bury it in the backyard. They were not willing to dig a hole in the snow covered, frozen ground for me. Brats. Lol.

My darling boyfriend surprised me by ordering me a new cricut. I was so excited and thankful. I was even more surprised when I saw what was delivered...

Christmas Card Display

I love receiving handmade Christmas cards. While I display all of my Christmas cards during the Christmas season, I have decided to display my handmade cards longer. They now hang in my living room and I have included pictures of the families who sent them to me.

The top card is from my friend Katie (she is only 13), the photo card is from my sister-in-law and her lovely family and the bottom card is from my dear friend Liz. If you lift open her card, you can see the photo of her family.

The top card it from my dear friend Kate. It made it all of the way from Canada!! The bottom card is from my dear friend Jenny. She is the one responsible for my stampin up addiction. The photos of their families are with the cards.

A special card

This is a very special Christmas card. Last winter, I went to a girlfriend's house once a week to teach her to scrapbook. I worked with her and her teenage daughter to help them to make a scrapbook for a family member. They loved my cricut so much that they asked Santa to bring them one for Christmas. This is the card that Katie sent me this year. Isn't it beautiful? She is only 13 and very creative. I'm so proud of her.

My New Craft Space

I have a new scrapping space! I used to scrap in my bedroom. I have recently emptied out the office and turned it into my scrapping room. The space isn't very big but it is all mine. It opens into the living room with a 6 foot wide doorway. This is great because it allows me to scrap but remain active in what the boys are doing. It is also seen at all times so it will force me to keep my space clean.

I made this card using an invitation size envelope.

Seal the envelope and then cut off one end. Decorate the envelope and then put the bottom half through a crimper. Decorate and you're done.

My inside card measures 4 inches by 4 inches.

Accordion Card

Over at The Pieces Of Paper Forum we have a monthly crop. Each crop starts out with a one hour card class. This was this months class.

Accordion Card:

Step 1: Cut 2 pieces of cereal boxes or chipboard to measure 4x4 inches.

Step 2: Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper to measure 4.5x4.5 inches.

Step 3: Cut 2 pieces of cardstock to measure 3.75 x 3.75 inches.

Step 4: Cut 1 piece of neutral cardstock to measure 3.5 x 7 inches.

Step 5: Cut 1 piece of neutral cardstock to measure 3.5 x 10.5 inches.

Step 6: Adhere chipboard to the center/back of patterned paper.

Step 7: Cut off the corners leaving 1/16th of an inch.

Step 8: Fold over the edges of the patterned paper and adhere it to the chipboard.

Step 9: Adhere the cardstock squares to cover the chipboard.

Step 10: Score the 3.5 x 7 inch piece of cardstock @ 3.5 inches.

Step 11: Score the 3.5 x 10.5 inch piece of cardstock @ 3.5 inches and 7 inches.

Step 12: Fold using the mountain/valley folding method.

Step 13: Adhere both pieces of cardstock together.

Step 14: Decorate this piece of cardstock. Don't forget to do the back.

Step 15: Adhere your decorated cardstock to the covers that we already made.

Step 16: Decorate the inside of your card.

Step 17: Make item(s) to decorate the front of your card with but do not attach them!

Step 18: Cut a piece of ribbon to measure 26" long.

Step 19: Open your card and place it upside down on the table. Place the ribbon on the card and only adhere it to the front of the card!

Step 20: Apply the item(s) you made for the front over where you adhered the ribbon.

Close the card and tie the ribbon.

This is my creation. I used the card cut on the cartridge with the matching tree overlay. I cuttlebugged the base and added flower soft to the leaves. I backed my tree with red felt. The bird is a dollar stamp from Michaels.

What's For Dinner?

Are your kids always asking you what's for dinner? Mine ask me a couple of hundred times per day. It makes me crazy. I made this sign for my kitchen. It was really easy to do.

I bought a 10x13" frame at Walmart for $5.00.

I cut the vinyl and applied it to the inside of the glass. This means that I can write on the front with dry erase markers and then wipe it off when I'm done.

I did have to piece two pieces of paper for the background. I also stamped and embossed it to give it some zing.

I embellished the front with some prima flowers and skittles.

Organinzing

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been organizing my cuttlebug folders. I started with a cut file form Okie on the cricut message board. Thanks Okie!! You can find her file here. I did color coordinate my folders. This was helpful to me. I labeled each folder and the cuttlebug folder. There is no way that I can memorize the name of each folder! lol

Okie embossed the front of her folders so she could see what they would look like. This didn't work for me. Sorry Okie. On "Holidays with the Cricut", Tammy made these really cute tags and put them on a ring. This way she can flip thru the tags quickly to find the cuttlebug folder she needs. I loved this idea. Thanks Tammy!

After the tags were cut and embossed, I laminated them with my Yourstory machine from Provocraft. I did cut the laminating material with the cricut first. This made it much easier.

(Did you know that you can open a gypsy file in design studio? You can. Simply download the file and open it as you would any other cut file.)

I have also updated my cricut cartridge organization. I am currently storing them in Plano Tackle Boxes. These work really well for me. I have a gypsy so I don't use my books and overlays often. I find that if you just put the cartridge into the slot, it will slide down and be hard to pull out. I put a cotton ball in first which keeps this from happening.

I put the carts in alphabetical order and then labeled them.

Over at the Pieces of Paper forum we had an online crop that started with a card class. Here is the card that I made. The paper is scraps from my stash, the stamp is Stampin Up and I cut the scallop circles with my nestabilities. I added prima flowers, used su markers and ribbon.

Online Crop

Iron-on Vinyl

This is the t-shirt that my son made for his girlfriend for Christmas. We used the Sure Cuts Alot 2 program with my cricut. The program allows me to trace a photo and then cut it. It works great! We cut the image and letters out of heat transfer vinyl. It's very easy to use.

I buy all of my vinyl from HHSignSupply.

To use the vinyl, simple place the white side up on the cutting mat. When you cut your images, remember to flip them.

After you have cut your images, you will need to weed your vinyl. This is the process of removing all of the extra vinyl. Leave your image(s) on the clear material.

Place your image white side down onto your t-shirt. Place on ironing cloth over the image. I used a very thin kitchen towel. Press your image for 30 seconds with the iron on it's hottest setting. Continue until you have ironed the entire image.

Allow the material to cool completely.

Peel off the clear material carefully. If some of your vinyl tries to come with it, re-iron that section.

This was our first attempt at a t-shirt. It worked really well. The kids are already begging to make more. We had to order more vinyl. It should be here Monday. lol

Altered Clock

I made this for the school nurse. It's a cheap $4.00 clock from Walmart. My husband took it apart for me. I used vinyl for the numbers and Everyday Paper Dolls for the cricut cuts. This was surprisingly easy. I can't wait to make more!

Post-it note holder

I made this post-it note holder for my son's teacher. I wrote "Don't Forget" on the top. We also included two more pads of post-its with the gift.

directions - I started by cutting a piece of paper to measure 5x7. Next I embossed it and inked it. I slipped it into a 5x7 picture frame that I bought at Walmart for $1.00. The ribbon runs through the frame and then wraps around the front. I cut the words out using my gypsy. Sorry, I don't remember what font I used. I peeled the back off of the pad of post-it notes and adhered it to the front of the frame.

Glitter Ornaments

I made these with the scouts on Saturday. They are super simple to make.

1. take the top off of a clear ornament (glass or plastic will work)
2. pour in some Mop and Glo, swish and dump out extra
3. pour in some glitter, swish and dump out any extra
4. replace the top and embellish

I brought my cricut into the kitchen for this scout meeting. The boys went crazy with it. We used my gypsy to make a cut file to decorate their ornaments. We cut the items out of white Cricut vinyl and then the boys put them on the ornaments.

Soda Bottle project

I saw that several ladies on the cricut message board had made these and I knew that I had to try it. I made this for Anthony's teacher.

directions: clean out a soda bottle, remove the wrapper and dry it out
cut a c in the side of the bottle
insert items into the bottle
tape the c closed
decorate the bottle

I used My Mind's Eye Paper, studio g stamps, nestabilities, Old West Cricut Cartridge and ribbon on mine.

Of course, I bought more stuff than I could fit into the bottle. No problem. I pulled out my Sweet Treats cart. and made a goodie bag.

Gingerbread houses

I made this base for a cub scout project. We hot glued it to a plate for the boys to decorate. They got to make their own icing and then "glue" the candies onto the house base.

Eagle Ceremony

I recently attended an eagle ceremony for two brothers. The younger of the two brothers used to be in my scout den with one of my boys. It was so touching to be at his ceremony and to celebrate with him and his family.

The paper is K and Co. It was preprinted with the sayings. I simply cut the paper to fit the card. I embossed them with a fleur-de-lis cuttlebug folder. I also used my SU punches on the inside of the card.

I decided to enter the gypsy design contest last night. What was I thinking? For those of you who don't know what it is, here are the details:

WHAT:	The Gypsy 24-hour Design Challenge is the ultimate creativity proving ground. We'll tell you what cartridges to use and what project categories are involved and you design anywhere using Gypsy. But remember, you only have 24 hours!
WHERE:	Challenge details will be announced on the Cricut message board and from provocraft on Twitter.
WHEN:	Starts at midnight Oct. 25 and ends midnight Oct. 26.
HOW:	Upload project photos and instructions anytime between midnight Oct. 25 and midnight Oct. 26. Using ShareThis, you'll also be able to share your project on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Email, and many other social applications.
THEN WHAT:	Voting begins just after midnight on Oct. 26. Encourage your friends and family to vote for your project but they have to hurry, voting ends Oct. 28 at midnight. The project with the most votes wins! See rules for details.
THE WINNER:	The grand prize winner will be announced on Oct. 30 on the Message Boards as well as in person at the grand opening of the new Michaels store in Manhattan. The winner gets a trip for two to New York City! Well after the paint job I still thought that my bug looked a little plain. Anyone who knows me knows that I can't handle "white" space. I cut my butterflies with vinyl. It was so easy to use and know by bug is done. (I've just started on my jukebox!)

This was my first attempt at these cards. They were fun but time consuming.

Directions:

1 - 5 1/2" x 12" piece of cardstock
4 - 1 7/8" x 1 3/8" patterned paper
2 - 1 3/8" x 3 7/8" patterned paper
1 - 2 3/8" x 3 7/8" patterned paper

score cardstock lenghtwise at 2", 4", 8" and 10"

turn cardstock 1/4 turn and score in 1 1/2" in between the 2" and 10" score lines

turn cardstock 180 degrees and repeat along the other long side

cut with utility knife along these score lines.

fold card using mountain fold, up, down, up down

refold the middle section in the opposite directions

decorate

I made this card for part of our DT challenge on Creative Twists. The challenge was to use a fold on our layout or card. I used folds to make my card.

stamp: House Mouse "Chewable Asprin"
su markers and cardstock "really rust and not quite navy"

Directions:
3 1/2" x 10 1/2" cardstock
3 1/4" square piece of patterned paper cut in half on the diagonal
stamped image
ribbon

score the cardstock at 3 1/2" and again at 7"

score the right hand square from top right corner to bottom left corner

score the left hand square the same way

fold your left square into the middle and then fold the lower triangle up

fold your right square into the middle and then fold the top triangle down

tape the patterned paper triangles onto the front of your card

tie a piece of ribbon around your card and tie with a side bow, I taped my ribbon on the back to hold it into place, don't use tape on the front of your card

add adhesive to only one side of your stamped image and adhere to the front of your card

Busy day of scrapping.

For this challenge you will need a black and white and color print of the same photo in the same size. The challenge is to scrap the black and white photo. After, cut out a portion of the color photo and put it on the black and white photo.

Example: If your picture was of a basket of apples, scrap the black and white photo as you would usually do. Then cut out one apple out of the color photo and place it on top of the black and white photo.

Challenge #2

Add a shaker box to your layout or card. When you are done, either post a direct link in your comment or email it to me.

Directions for making a shaker box:
Let's put a shaker box on our layout or card!

Step 1
Cut out your shaker box shape, such as a strawberry, watermelon, sun, moon or star. Make sure it is large enough to allow for the foam tape border and room for the contents to move about freely.
Step 2
Cut out a window inside your shape using a craft knife. Make sure you leave at least a 1/2-inch border around your shape.
Step 3
Turn your shaker box over and adhere the transparent film to the shape, using strong adhesive. Trim the excess.
Step 4
Adhere sections of foam tape to the back of the shape. Make sure you leave no gaps.
Step 5
Pour a small amount of beads, sequins, or small buttons into the well you created with the foam tape. Leave enough room for them to be able to move around.
Step 6
Peel off the foam tape backing.
Step 7
Place a piece of cardstock over the foam tape and adhere securely. Choose a complimentary color because you will see it on the inside of the shaker box.
Step 8
Trim the excess backing away.
Step 9
Attach your shaker box to your scrapbook page.
